Gastly is one of the first Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in the original Pokémon Red and Blue games. Eventually evolving into Gengar, Gastly takes the form of a dark ball made of poisonous gas, and is surrounded by a purple haze.
For this amigurumi Gastly, the main body is crocheted as a simple sphere. The haze is created by needle-felting purple roving to the main body to give it a wispy look. The eye and mouth details are cut out from felt and attached to the main body after it is crocheted.

Cut the following eye shapes out of white felt. Insert the safety eyes into the spots marked with an “×”.
Place the safety eyes below R8 and six stitches apart.
Needle felt or glue the white felt near the safety eyes only so that the sides of the eyes remain flared out.
R15 (sc 1, dec) six times (12)
R16 (sc 2, dec) three times (9)
Finish with a sl st into the next stitch. Cut a short yarn tail for sewing.
Stuff with polyfill. Sew the opening closed.
Cut the mouth shape out of pink felt, and two tooth shapes out of white felt using the template provided.
Glue or needle felt the pink mouth to the head.
Glue or needle felt the white teeth at the top of the mouth.
To create the haze around Gastly, tear apart the purple wool roving into fluffs. Loosely needle felt the wool roving starting from the middle of the back and working outwards.
Attach the wool haze so that it covers the entire back half of the body. Pull apart the wool around the outer edges of the haze so that it appears more wispy.
Gastly is now complete! If you would like to make a Gengar to pair Gastly with, the Gengar pattern is available on Ribblr.
