What I love about Ghost-type Pokemon is they have both a spookiness and endearing quality about them. Mimikyu is known as the “Disguise” Pokemon and its true form is enshrouded by a cloak made to look like Pikachu. It has modelled the rag that it wears after Pikachu due to its popularity in hopes that it will attract people that it can befriend. This plan backfires because many are put off by how unintentionally creepy its crayon-drawn eyes look.
I, for one, think that Mimikyu is adorable and serves as a great Halloween-themed Pokemon. The rag is crocheted in a single piece with a simple edging at the bottom and the ears are purposely made to be crooked. The face details are stitched randomly to be reminiscent of a sloppy crayon colouring. Since the design is asymmetrical, have fun with the randomness of the embroidery and stitching.
I made a video to accompany the pattern and help you through it. You can find it on my YouTube channel HERE, or watch it down below.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for the Mimikyu pattern! It was so well written and very simple following along to the video. I’m very pleased with the outcome 🙂
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Hi! Thank you for this pattern! I’d like to do this for my daughter’s birthday. Can you tell me what kind of yarn you used? And which size ? Thank’s a lot !
Hi Camille. You can use any worsted weight yarn (has a number 4 on the label). The brand that I used is called Bernat Premium. https://www.yarnspirations.com/ca-en/bernat-premium-yarn/164158.html
I felt like he was not tall enough. So I did R20 twice then a R22 that was hdc, triple crochet, hdc and then sl sc repeatedly for a round. Really helped with the frill~. Also did that to the under part too. Looks very cute thank you for the breif tutorial.
