Did you grow up in the 90’s obsessed with every magical girl anime you could find? I’m talking classic shows like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura.

Back when video stores like Blockbuster still existed, I would scour the shelves to rent VHS’s of Cardcaptor Sakura. Each VHS tape would have three random episodes so when I first experienced the series, I watched the episodes all out of order with a very questionable English dub. But I didn’t care. I loved the different costumes that Sakura and her friends would wear each episode, the fluid animation of the battle sequences, and the cast of colourful, relatable characters.

If you hold as many fond memories of Cardcaptor Sakura as I do, I’ve got a free pattern for a mini Sealing Wand for you! I modelled it after the Sealing Wand from the show but I wanted to make it into a keychain-sized accessory.

Since this pattern is small and crochets up quickly, it’s a great stash-buster to use up leftover yarn scraps that you have taking up space. I used small rhinestone stickers that I got from Amazon to add a little bit of bling to the wings. I used Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Glue to adhere the rhinestones and it dries solid and secure in minutes.

As for the hook size, I used a 4.0 mm hook from Clover Amour, but if you find that your stitches are too loose, you could switch to a 3.5 mm hook instead. Other tools that you’ll need are scissors (I use my trusty Gingher Stork Embroidery Scissors), and a darning needle for sewing (I like Clover Chibi Darning Needles). You’ll need just a little bit of stuffing (I used Fairfield Poly Fil Premium Fibrefill) for this pattern.
