To anyone who is familiar with Animal Crossing, this iconic gold sack is used to hold the in-game currency, bells. Share your love of Animal Crossing with the world by making one of your own with this free crochet pattern.

I plan to use these bags in lieu of wrapping paper for future gifts to friends and family. But you can definitely put whatever you want in it. Replace your handbag with a bell bag! Use it to store knick knacks! Keep snacks and confections in it for an emergency pick-me-up!

I-CORD DRAWSTRING

With R, chain 3.

R1 Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yarn over and draw up a loop, insert hook into next ch, yarn over and draw up a loop. There should be 3 loops on the hook.

R2 Drop 2 loops from the hook and hold them at the base with your thumb so they don’t come undone. Yarn over and draw up a loop through the remaining loop on the hook. Insert hook into the first dropped loop, yarn over and draw up a loop. Insert hook into the next dropped loop, yarn over and draw up a loop. There should be 3 loops on the hook.

Repeat R2 until your i-cord measures 25 inches (63.5 cm).

To end the i-cord, yarn over and draw yarn through all three loops on hook. Cut a short tail and weave in both ends of the i-cord.

ASSEMBLY

Insert the i-cord into the hole (marked “1” in the picture below) from the front. Thread through the hole to the left (marked “2” in the picture below.

Continue threading through the holes in this manner.

Pull both ends of the drawstring to close the bell bag and tie it in a neat little bow!
